The first V8 Supercar event of 2014 was a weekend to remember for the good and the bad reasons. With a major crash and Volvos return to the V8 Supercars.

The first race was an un-eventful race, the only crash was James Courtney trying to pass Scott Pye and Lee Holdsworth in a hole that wasn’t there. Courtney ended up with half of his door hanging off and had to go into the pits to get it removed. Race one was won by Jamie Whincup with team mate Craig Lowndes in second and Shane Van Gisbergen in third.

In the second race there wasn’t much action until the last 5 laps, when Jamie Whincup was trying to get past Scott Mclaughlin. On the last lap Jamie got a good exit out of turn 7 and had a good run out of turn 8, but Scott went to block down the inside of turn 9, Jamie went on the outside and got past turn 11, but on the last corner Jamie went wide and Scott went up the inside and finished second in what was Volvos first race win and weekend back. Scott during an interview dropped the f bomb. Craig Lowndes won the race from Scott McLaughlin and Jamie Whincup coming in behind in 3rd place.

The 3rd race was one that will be remembered for Jason Bright’s rollover at turn one. After the race restarts where drivers slow down to 50-60km, until you get to the AZ boards and you hammer the gas pedal. Which after an accident all drivers thought it was a joke.  Shane Van Gisbergen and Rick Kelly got a drive thru for going over the speed limit. Jamie Whincup was on track to win the 3rd race but the car controller touched the race car when he isn’t allowed to, and Jamie Whincup got a drive thru, where he ended up crashing into the side of Michael Caruso. After the drive thru he tried to get back up the front but ended up finishing 15th after fixing the damage to his car. James Courtney won his first victory at Adelaide with Craig Lowndes in 2nd and Shane Van Gisbergen in 3rd.
